Well four days off from work and I could have used a few more! The weekend was very nice. I was able to get in some nice workouts as well as some down time. Friday, not much went on. I was planning on going for an short ride, but I had a flat so I just enjoyed a day off instead.
On Saturday mornings I usually try to incorporate a mid distance run of 13 miles. For the past two weeks my running has been off. I have felt sluggish and I felt like I was just going through the motions. Due to my little running slump, I was dreading Saturday's run. When the alarm went off, I really didn't want to get out of bed, but I forced myself out. I ate some breakfast, got ready and headed out. The first couple of miles felt slow and mentally I was ready to take myself out of the run. However, as I kept moving forward I pushed away the negative thoughts and zoned out. By the time I reached mile 5, I was back in the grove and feeling good. Before I knew it I was turning down my street and the run was ending, 13 miles 1:52/8:39 avg.
To celebrate the 4th we headed to my parents for a cookout and relaxed by the pool, well actually in it. Morgan loves the water and never want to get out! We had tons of fun and ate lots of good food.
Sunday morning I was able to get in a great bike ride (Thanks Matt for helping me fix the flat). I decided I would ride 31 miles to celebrate my 31st birthday. It was overcast in the morning and I got caught in some light rain. The streets were quiet and all the dogs I passed just wanted to chill in their yards. It felt great being out there and getting my body moving.
Sunday afternoon, my parents came over and we all hung out for a bit. I indulged myself in the cheesecake Matt made me. It is so good!! Then my parents took Morgan to their house to sleep over. I was able to relax and sit on the couch watching tv. It was wonderful. I even got to sleep in until about 7:30! I was hoping to sleep in all morning but, once I am up, I'm up.
Now, back to work:( Hope everyone had lots of fun this past weekend.

I have been feeling like that on my long runs too. I owe to the fact that I'm sleeping in too late and havign alcohol the ngiht before. Both not a good combo especially when it's so hot outside lately.
Congrats on the birthday and the ride. After I had a 15 miler my legs and tush were done! How were your legs and tush doing after 31?
